Landau Fermi liquid theory in nuclear and many body systems

Fermi liquid theory is a cornerstone of quantum manybody systems. The mapping between strongly interacting particles and weakly coupled quasiparticles underlying this method provides an extraordinarily versatile theoretical tool. It allows, for instance, for a model independent connection of the quasiparticle interaction with the thermodynamics, collective excitations and transport properties. Because of the universal character of these relations, Fermi liquid theory can be successfully applied to a variety of fermionic systems, including nuclei and nuclear matter. This workshop aims at bringing together quantum manybody practitioners, both within and outside the nuclear domain, as well as nuclear density functional experts, to review past achievements and recent advances in nuclear Fermi liquid theory. In particular, we want to discuss adequate error estimates in ab initio descriptions of Fermi liquid theory and exploit the direct link between nuclear structure and response properties to narrow down the tensor channel in effective nuclear forces.
