Perspectives on the Origins of Nuclear Structure
The "ab initio" approach to nuclear structure, in which one solves the nuclear many-body problem with interactions based on Chiral Effective Field theory, is emerging as a validated and predictive theory. With the background of snapshots of recent advances, I will present some of the challenges remaining to achieve several long-sought goals on microscopic nuclear theory. I will also present perspectives of the role of supercomputer simulations in reaching these goals.
