Investigation of the incomplete fusion reaction mechanism in the 20Ne+122Sn reaction
The 20Ne+122Sn reaction has been investigated using the EAGLE array at the Heavy Ion Laboratory, University of Warsaw. The experiment provided exclusive α particle spectra registered over 4π solid angle for the α5n and α6n channels at two beam energies: 141 and 150 MeV. The data were interpreted using a Monte-Carlo code called COMPA, based on the statistical theory. For both energies the number of α particles emitted in forward angles exceeds the predictions of the statistical model, which assumes that they can be emitted only by the evaporation mechanism. The observed excess of α particles may be attributed mainly to the process of incomplete fusion. We propose to simulate the incomplete fusion α particle spectra using the PLATYPUS code and compare it with the experiment.
