Supernova Neutrinos: Challenges and its physics potential

ECT* Colloquium

ECT* Conference room

Neutrinos emitted during a supernova are a powerful probe of the extreme conditions encountered, and a diagnostic of the explosion mechanism. I will discuss the nuclear, neutrino and astrophysics relevant to understanding the neutrino signal with a specific focus on neutrino-matter interactions. These interactions shape the spectral and temporal aspects of the neutrino emission impacting almost all aspects of the supernova including nucleosynthesis
