Pablo de Vera currently is Marie Curie Individual Fellow at the European Centre for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and Related Areas (ECT*), one of the research centres of the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), Trento, Italy. He does research on the physico-chemical mechanisms underlying radiation interaction and effects in condensed matter by means of tComputational Physics, for applications which include biophysics, materials science, physical chemistry and nanotechnology. Pablo is particularly interested in radiation interaction with biological media. He leads the project NanoEnHanCeMent – Nanoparticle Enhanced Hadrontherapy: a Comprehensive Mechanistic Description.

His interdisciplinary training includes a BSc in Chemistry (University of Alicante, Spain, 2009, first student of promotion), a MSc in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (University of Alicante, 2011, first student of promotion), and a PhD in Nanoscience/Physics (University of Alicante, 2010-2016). He was awarded the Extraordinary Thesis Award for his dissertation “Charged particle interaction with biological materials: modelling and application to ion beam cancer therapy“.

He then participated in the Marie Curie ITN ARGENT (Advanced Radioterapies, Generated by Exploiting Nanoprocesses and Technologies) at the Open University (Milton Keyenes, UK, 2014-2015) and Queen’s University Belfast (UK, 2015-2017), while collaborating with MBN (MesoBioNano) Research Center (Frankfurt, Germany). Later on, he was awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship at MBN Research Center (Frankfurt, Germany, 2018-2019) and a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellowship at the Research Group of Excellence of the Murcia Region “Condensed Matter”, at University of Murcia (Spain, 2019-2020).
