The Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) will open a new frontier in exploring the internal dynamics of hadrons and nuclei, offering precision access to the three-dimensional structure of matter. Transverse Momentum Dependent (TMD) distributions are essential tools for interpreting EIC observables, but the theoretical landscape behind them remains fragmented. Multiple formalisms—including SCET-based factorization, CSS resummation, small-x evolution, and parton branching approaches — offer different definitions, evolution equations, and assumptions.
This event brings together experts from these distinct frameworks to confront foundational differences and assess their phenomenological implications. Key goals include clarifying the compatibility of non-linear small-x dynamics with perturbative resummation, understanding scheme dependence in evolution kernels, and identifying observables sensitive to these theoretical distinctions.
The program is expected to yield a roadmap for harmonizing or delineating the domains of existing approaches, define benchmark processes relevant to EIC phenomenology, and initiate collaborative work toward a unified QCD description of transverse momentum dynamics. By bridging methodological boundaries, this meeting sup-ports the development of a coherent theory toolkit for the EIC and strengthens the theoretical foundations of QCD analysis.
