Nuclear Physics under the low-energy, high intensity frontier

Nuclear physics, despite its remarkable achievements and recent advancements, is sometimes mistakenly perceived as a field of the past. In truth, it stands at the fore-front of scientific exploration, invigorated by cutting-edge developments in few- and many-body methodologies, field-theoretical frameworks, and state-of-the-art experimental techniques. These advancements have propelled the discipline into an era of maturity, enabling it to venture boldly into uncharted territories.

One particularly exciting frontier lies in the study of systems in which particles interact with relatively low-energy (< 100 MeV) but extraordinarily high-intensity fields. In such environments, multiparticle processes rival or even surpass traditional one-to-one interactions, opening the door to groundbreaking discoveries. These investigations can be conducted in spatially dense settings, such as the cores of neutron stars, or through highly time-compressed sources, such as particle beams generated by high-power laser-matter interactions. The potential applications of this research are boundless, spanning nuclear photonics, astrophysics, medical innovations, and much more.

This workshop is dedicated to accelerating progress in this transformative paradigm, fostering collaboration and innovation to unlock the immense possibilities that lie ahead.
