FBK grant POC programme

On 4 April 2025, ECT* researcher Simone Taioli, in collaboration with colleagues from the FBK Centre for Sustainable Energy, received a grant from the FBK POC programme to support their joint research project ACE – Advanced Coatings for Enhanced Corrosion Resistance of Steel in Liquid Metal Energy Systems.

The project aims to develop, through a combined computational and experimental study, ceramic coatings for stainless steel to reduce corrosion caused by molten lead in advanced energy systems of fourth-generation nuclear reactors, including small modular reactors (SMRs). ACE contributes to the advancement of low-carbon energy technologies by improving the durability and safety of materials under extreme conditions.
