Statistical mechanics study of the introduction of a vaccine against COVID-19 disease using real data from Israel
A year since the first cases of infection by the Covid-19 virus have been reported, several pharmaceutical companies made significant progress in developing effective vaccines against the Covid-19 virus that has claimed the lives of more than 2.5 million people worldwide. We apply statistical physics tools to examine Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines’ efficiency in preventing severe and moderated morbidity using real data from Israel.
SpeakerECT*/TIFPAI did my Ph.D. at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (HUJI), focusing on using an effective potential to calculate low-energy interactions in light nuclei. In my postdoc (with Prof. Francesco Pederiva, University of Trento), I am using an effective potential for calculating many-body systems. In the last months, I am using the same mechanism to predict the spread of COVID-19 given the new developments in vaccines.
