The synthesis of heavy elements occurs through complex reactions in unstable nuclei in exotic astrophysical environments. Understanding this requires precise knowledge of the nuclei involved, which are often experimentally inaccessible and thus need to be studied theoretically.

Substantial progress has been made in the reach and precision of nuclear structure and reaction theory, positioning the field to refine our knowledge of key nucleosynthesis reactions. This workshop will bring together experts in nuclear structure and reactions to focus on the interface of state-of-the-art nuclear structure and reaction theory. The key goal is to bring these communities together to target necessary developments for the prediction of processes relevant for nucleosynthesis in medium-mass and heavy nuclei, such as nucleon-capture reactions, electroweak transitions, and nuclear fusion and fission.
