The study of nuclei far from stability is one of the most active domains in nuclear physics today. In particular, the advent in recent years of facilities such as the RIKEN Radioactive Ion Beam Factory has provided a step change in our ability to study the most exotic systems. In parallel, advances in theoretical approaches coupled with dramatically increasing computational capabilities are providing for ever more sophisticated and realistic modelling of light (A<50) nuclei away from stability. The focus of the present workshop will be those systems lying beyond the
limits of stability with emphasis on neutron-rich systems. Quite apart from the extreme tests that their structure provides for the models, the influence of the continuum, together with the increasing importance of the effects of 3 nucleon forces has become apparent. Beyond issues related to their spectroscopy, new phenomena are expected to occur, including, perhaps most intriguingly, correlations (such as dineutron-like configurations) between the unbound valence nucleons. In addition, while two-proton radioactivity is now reasonably well established, two-neutron radioactivity remains an open issue. Interestingly, several light two-proton emitters are mirrors of two-neutron halo systems and we also propose to contrast recent progress in understanding the two phenomena. Finally, the possibility of multi-nucleon correlations, in particular, those involving 4 neutrons, remain to be seriously investigated.

The workshop will aim to bring together leading players in the field with the goal of exchanging the latest results and developments, as well as looking forward tothe next steps – both theoretically and experimentally.
