Probing exotic structure of short-lived nuclei by electron scattering

The world’s first electron-scattering facility for exotic nuclei, SCRIT facility at RIKEN in Japan, is about to start its operation, and an electron-ion collider, ELISe, is planned in the second phase of FAIR in Germany. Long-awaited structure studies of exotic nuclei by electron scattering will be soon realized. Electron scattering is known to be one of the key experimental tools to reveal detailed internal structures of atomic nuclei, though its application to production-hard short-lived nuclei was not possible to date.

Taking this opportunity a new era in nuclear physics being opened, we would like to bring experts in nuclear structure theories and from the facilities together to discuss on the structure studies of exotic nuclei by electron scattering. With theoretical guidance, we discuss about the best uses of ground-breaking new facilities for nuclear physics, and identify future directions to which the facilities should head.
