The importance of a proper description of nuclei with an odd number of protons and/or neutrons is obvious since more than half of the nuclei in the nuclear chart belong to this category. Odd systems are also key to understand nucleosynthesis mechanisms since their beta decays play a major role in those processes. In many facets of the microscopic description of the atomic nucleus, there is a clear di erence between the level of sophistication in the treatment of even-even nuclei and the one of odd mass systems. The main purpose of this workshop is to review the present status of the implementation of microscopic many-body techniques to those systems breaking time reversal invariance, with a special emphasis in mean-eld-based many-body methods employing energy density functionals. Additionally, the identication of key issues to close the gap between the level of description in even and odd nuclei will be a relevant part of the workshop. Finally, the special needs of potential applications of the expected developments will be addressed. Finally, the special needs of potential applications of the envisaged developments will be addressed. In particular, the precise modelling of odd nuclei is essential for the better understanding of the nuclear part of many processes relevant for astrophysics and the test of physics beyond the Standard Model.
