One of the recent most interesting developments in relativistic heavy-ion collisions is the evidence of a global polarization of particles, measured for the first time in Au- Au collisions at RHIC [1]. This finding – which was actually a theoretical prediction – is having a major impact in the field as it demonstrates that the QCD plasma is a polarized fluid, and it has possible important consequences for the search of other long-sought phenomena such as the Chiral Magnetic Effect, as well as many other theoretical implications. Besides the refinement of phenomenological calculations, relativistic hydrodynamics and kinetic theory should be modified to include spin degrees of freedom, an endeavor where several groups worldwide contribute. The goal of the workshop is to gather experts to determine the state-of-the-art of knowledge in the field, to exchange ideas and methods, and to initiate new developments.
