Anomalies in particle physics
While no new particles beyond those of the Standard Model (SM) have been discovered (unequivocally) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), there exists a set of interesting “anomalies”. These deviations from SM predictions point towards new physics. They range over several orders of magnitude in energy, i.e. from tensions in beta decays to high-energy jets at the LHC, and could guide us towards the construction of a theory superseding the SM. In this talk, I review these anomalies together with possible beyond-the-SM explanations.
