Worldwide, several experiments are searching for physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) by performing precision measurements of nuclear beta decay. These experiments aim at 0.1% precision, and will have comparable control over systematic uncertainties.

The workshop aims at exploring in depth the current status and upcoming prospects in the determination of the QCD coupling constant alpha_S(m_Z) from the key observables where high precision measurements and theoretical calculations are (or will be) available.

The physical properties of many systems often crucially depend on those global features that cannot be ascribed to a particular geometry or arrangement, rather to a more abstract notion: topology.
